My 6 month old breasfeed baby has been losing weight what would it be?

He is also taking solids and nursing on demand, but still continues to lose weight.

  • a lot of weight? Really a questoin for the doc. Hard to say here. Could be he's not nursing enough, or is replacing some nursings (higher calories) with the solids (not as healthy as breastmilk). Do you nurse then offer foods? Could be he's learning to roll, crawl, scoot around, and is therefor losing weight simply becuase he is more active. Could be sick or just getting over a sickness. Could be other things, too. Not really sure what to tell you.

  • How many time is he nursing in 24 hours? Can you give more info on the wt loss? Are you always nursing before offering solids?
sometimes at this age they get distracted during the day and nurse less. Can you try and get himm to nurse a few more times during the day?
