nap time

is it ok for a 3.5 month to skip a nap for the entire day?
i know they should be awake more now and nap a couple times, but he just doesnt. i can maybe get him to nap 2 days out of the week and for about 30 min each time. he sleeps about 11-12 hours at night with 1-2 feedings.

  • if he seems happy and alert, it should be fine... but you as MOM might need a rest or two! it is ok to lay him down every day at a specified time and give yourself 30 min to an hour to rest... just give him a few soft toys to play with, make sure he has a mobile, etc... but turn the lights low and say "it is nap time. mommy will be back when its over" he DOES need to rest, and sometimes it is a matter of training him. i bet he falls asleep during nap time after not too long.

  • My son does the same thing but he's 6 months old. I will lay him in his crib and give him a 4 oz bottle. And 9 times out of 10 he will fall asleep either right after or sometimes even before the bottle is gone. I know he only takes 5 min at the most to drink his bottle so after 5 min ill take it out of his crib and he's usually asleep. Good Luck
