  • One, but i wish we had done it at 9 or 10 months... makes things muuuuuch easier. we use a sippy with a softer "sipper", but not the super soft ones. idk what kind it is, and i cant seem to find them any more... frustrating! we just had to pack up the bottles one day and give him the sippy. he got the hang of it within a half a day... realized he wasn't getting a bottle. good luck!

  • You introduce the sippy cup right now.

  • You can introduce the sippy cup now. Keep putting formula in the bottle and use the sippy cup for water etc. At one year when you switch form formula to whole milk then you can toss the bottles. Don't overuse the sippy cup: Sippy cups can cause difficulty with articulation and clarity of speech in some children.
Don't use the sippy cup like a bottle: "If a child goes from the breast or the bottle to a sippy cup, they tend to drink it as if it were a bottle. They lie back or tip their neck in the usual manner, so it's almost like drinking a bottle," she says. "They have a hard object or spout with various shapes depending on the type of cup, and their bodies are tipped back. This hard object or spout misplaces the tongue and pushes the teeth out as the thumb can."

  • My daughter went from breast to sippy. We introduced a sippy with water at around 9 months. When she self weaned at 23 months, she was drinking a healthy amount of water.
