ok so i just read in someone post that if u run a humidifir for to long it will cause mildew?


is that true becouse i have been running our warm mist one every night only at nights and i clean it very well and use treatments so no bactaria will grow. but will it cause mildew in the bedroom?

  • If there is condensation on the walls and windows from it being used then yes it needs to be on a lower percentage to prevent that.

  • sounds like you'll be ok. i've run a humidifier in my sons room everynight for 3 1/2 yrs now to help him sleep. i keep it clean and change the filter regularly and have had no problems. i just be sure to check the windows in the mornings to see if they're "dewey". if there's too much moisture in the air, mildew and mold can grow. but you'd notice it'd be really humid and it would condense on the window.

  • Ok my windows are "dewy" most days and we don't use humidifiers so you might not be able to tell that way BUT I do agree that other things in the room would feel damp like the walls or the carpet. If the room feels dry otherwise then you should be fine.
