when you applied for section 8 how long did it take to get you housing voucher?

  • depends totally on where you live. we have a 2 year waiting list here.

  • That's going to depend on your county and state. I know a woman that works for one of the housing authorities in Ohio and she said she's still processing applications for Section 8 that were received in October. This means she's still looking them over, doing the background checks and getting them into the system. She said they got slammed in October.

  • A week but I was homeless so I was put at the top of the list

  • here  its about a year, but it also depends on your need of it too. If there is say a single mother of three kids with a very low income, as opposed to a married couple with a slightly better income with the same amount of kids, The single mother would get  processed first.

  • Here over a year, doesnt matter if you are homeless or not.
