How long can we afford this?

In twelve years of Republican rule, there was an average annual budget deficit of about $104 billion. Compare that with an average annual deficit since 2008 of $1.074 trillion — or about $90 billion per month.

This is about the most mean hateful thing I have ever heard! How he ALLOWED all of them to die? Did he contract the suicide pilots? NO! It was a TERRORIST ATTACK on a brand new president's watch! Why didn't CLINTON get rid of Hussain and Al-Queda when HE had the chance? This was horrible and un-called for!

The point is - Obama has MORE THAN TRIPLED our deficit in his first 12 months that the repubs EVER had. When will he be held accountable for this?

  • Sati, good way to try to divert attention from the question!  Congrats on being a total -----!

BACK TO THE QUESTION:  We cannot afford the growing deficit.  There is a point where it will become so burdensome it will destroy the U.S.  Unlike the average American, the government can spend to excess then declare bankruptcy, wiping the slate clean.  Those we have borrowed from will own us.

Well said.  I can't believe people are willing to continue to give Obama a free pass.  Demand the Accountability and Responsibility he promised during the campaign.

  • So you think that 3,000 people, who were not all US citizens by the way, saved us mega money? Have you completely lost your grip on reality? Good way to highjack a question.

  • Simply put, we cannot afford this. We must stand up and tell the government (who works FOR us) to stop spending. No more bloated budgets. No more pay raises. In fact, pay cuts for our upper echelons. Accountability and transparancy. Show us where the money is being spent.

  • Neil Cavuto just said on Fox that the 2011 budget being proposed by PreBO puts our debt and deficit at 110% of our GDP. Basically, PreBO has drawn up a plan to bankrupt the United States of America and it only took him 1 year. Call your representative and tell them to vote this thing down and to come up with a budget that actually cuts spending and not freeze it. Oh, and that spending freeze. Yes, he froze spending on some government programs. He gave the money he "saved" to other entitlements and increased their budget. Same old same old. The only thing that changed with his election was the name of the people who live in the WH.
