  • OP here- I know they are two completely different things. Any information on either of them would be helpful. I'm interested in helping families who can't have children on their own and don't know anything about it.

  • To do either you will have to have a psych eval. They want to make sure that you can mentally and emotionally handle it. If you decide to be a surrogate you will more than likely be asked to create a profile of yourself with in the agency. A family will pick you and you will meet with them. If you both decide that it's a good match than they will procede with the IVF process. It's HIGHYLY unlikely that you woulf carry a child that is anyway biologically related to you because it's rare to find a clinic that doesn't require the eggs to either be donor or the ones from the mother who's child your carrying. Once you go through the whole process a plan will be made up for when you go into labor and how the child will be transfered to his or her parents. You will be compansated considerably but you should definately NOT do this if your only doing it for the money because there are severe emotional implications.

  • If your donating eggs the process is quite similar except you will not meet with the family and they will at most only see your childhood pic if you choose to provide one. You will go through the process of harvesting your eggs. The actual procedure takes about 15 minutes but the whole process is about 6 weeks long. You could be compansated for this as well but again you should NOT do it for the money.

To do either you need to be a healthy weight, a non smoker, a non drinker, not have an chronic issues requiring medication, be able to either obstain or have VERY safe sex for 6 weeks +, and be of good mental health.
