  • The secret meetings and plowing through a bill even when the majority of Americans are against. I'm also sick of incumbents (Democrat or Republican) who have completely lost touch with the people they are supposed to be representing. There really needs to be term limits so we can get rid of them all and keep new, fresh ideas coming in. Finally, they need to bring back the line item veto. That way the president can sign a bill without having to choke down all the pork that is attached to it.

  • Pandering to special interests that result in negative consequences for our country and simultaneously line the personal pockets of those in government, and virtually guarantee re-election for those eligible. The politicians scratch the backs of those wielding the big financial stick in return for $$$ and political donations come campaign time. The 2 party system is corrupt. Yes, I said politicians from BOTH major parties- delete your answer

  • Pork! Why can't it be that something be presented on it's own merits instead of having a couple hundred other things added onto it. I mean if you need money to rebuild a bridge from the government then it should be: The state of Ohio is requesting $1 million to replace this bridge. Here are the people who would rebuild it and this is what it costs. Approved or not. Keep it simple and maybe there wouldn't be so much pork added on. Yeah I know this is a simplistic view but hey I like simple

  • I'm with twin mommy - the push toward socialism. It has been gradual for decades, not it has leaped into prominence. gov't control of business is socialism. The Environmental Protection Agency's power to put a rancher off his own family's land, to forbid farms and orchards to access the water flowing past them in the Central Valley irrigation canals, etc. etc. THAT'S Socialism. On and on.

The WORD Socialism is not the problem, by the way. The problem is they way socialists THINK. They act on the belief that their power gives them the right to dictate to the general population, to "the masses". And the INEVITABLE result is a despotic rule.

So, yeah. Progressives, socialism, fascism, communism - they are synonyms for "individuals have no rights of their own, they have only the rights we let them have ... for now."
