I'm 18 weeks pregnant and my fundal height or what I think to be fundal height is measuring 3 inches below my belly button. Is this a major concern?

I'm due July 3rd, 2010. This is my first pregnancy. Everything thus far has been normal.( No spotting, no prior miscarriages. )I have mild tailbone pain and mild cramping that comes and goes and doesn't bother me much(seems like ligaments stretching). I feel movement at least once a day and I check my baby's heartbeat every night with a fetal doppler. I'm a worrier so any answers would be helpful. Thanks! :)

  • At 20 weeks your fundal height should be at your belly button. I think you are fine where you are. Here is a nifty illustration...

  • No I don't think you should worry. There was a point during my pregnancy that I was measuring 2-3 weeks behind and then a couple appts later I was measuring a week ahead. My doc explained that babies have growth spurts in the womb just as they do when they come out. So if your doc is not worried you shouldn't be either.

  • there can be measuring errors too. our midwives are much more careful while measuring, but they still notice differences b/t them! are you measuring yourself, or your dr? try not to worry too much! babies have been being born for a very long time!!! i know you hear a lot of bad stories, but most births are normal beautiful and amazing, as i am sure yours will be!
