How often do you wash there hair?

I only wash my daughter hair 1 or 2 times a week unless for some reason it gets something on in it like ice cream or something. She takes a bath everyday, and I wash her up, but just not her hair b/c she screams bloody murder. I wash it when it looks dirty, and thats it. Should I be washing her hair more than 2 times a week? (Some weeks it's more than that like if she gets it dirty with something)

  • I do the same as you for my 2yr old...unless she wipes her yogurt in her hair, we only wash it 1-2x'z per week, if it looks clean there is no reason tro torture her!!!! You have enough battles at this age, pick the inportant ones!!! Now, my older children get baths w/hair washing every night (boys 6 &12)cause they get sooo much nastier!

  • If it doesn't look dirty, I'm sure its fine. There are so many hair types. My daughter's starts to look oily and stringy if I don't do it every 2 days, so I do...

  • I wash my kids hair a couple of times a week, sometimes less. They are clean kids and have eczema really bad, if they have baths more often it dries their skin and they break out more. My ped told us not to bath them more then twice a week. Unless she is getting to seem grubby in between washings I wouldn't worry about it.

  • every few days. it is hard when they freak out, so its ok to keep it at a minimum.

  • I hate how much they freak out. So I only wash it every other day.

  • my DD bathes almost everyday, but i only scrub her hair (as opposed to just getting it wet w/ bubble bath water) 1-2 times a week. she has very fine hair so if i wash it too often it breaks.

so long as you wash your DDs hair when it looks dirty or has something in it, you're fine!

  • That's fine. Babies hair is normally pretty delicate anyways. Too much shampoo will strip some of the keratin and protein out, and damage the hair.. be sure to use a decent shampoo for baby as you do for mommy. I wouldn't use any baby no more tears shampoos.. like johnson and johnsons.. they have Quaternium-15: a quaternary ammonium salt used as a preservative in many cosmetics and industrial substances. It acts as a formaldehyde releaser. It can cause contact dermatitis, a symptom of an allergic reaction, especially in those with sensitive skin, on an infant's skin, or on sensitive areas such as the genitals.

  • also watch out for....Polysorbate 20 is a derivative of Novacain (dentists use as numbing agent). This prevents your baby from feeling the sting of the stronger detergent additives in shampoos. So, basically the irritating ingredients are still THERE, they just can't be felt.
