Do you file your own taxes or do you go somewhere like H&R Block to have them done?

With the banks not being so ready to hand out the funds for rapid refund how many are actually doing their own taxes this year? I know a lot of people have used turbo tax this year, have you?

  • I do my own through snail mail. I have had too many H&R Block people screw my crap up and it is not worth sitting there waiting for hours to have some one screw it up since we have 3-4 shoe boxes full of receipts we have to go through.

  • I've used TurboTax online for several years now.

Why pay someone else to do a job I can do myself?

  • I've always used Turbo Tax online. I don't see that changing unless BO and congress push through this disastrous health care reform. With the penalty for having no insurance built into it, that will probably mean that we will up our deductions on the W-4 and stop filing. Unless I'm making a mint, I know the IRS will hardly care about little old me. I refuse to be forced into buy insurance I can't afford or paying a penalty.

  • We have gone to H&R Block every year for the past 21 years. However, this year, I won't be going to anyone. We'll be lucky to get $20 back, and I don't think they will do my taxes for that! So, I'll do them my self.

btw, does anyone know anything about

  • We normally do our own online with one of the free programs for military. This year we had someone who does taxes for military personnel do it for free but the actual refund was only $40 off from my estimated refund so next year we will just save ourselves the trip and keep filing our own.
