take her to the hospital?

okay my 4 yr old took off the vent cover on the floor and my 18 month old fell in with one foot. the cut is kindof big. it bleeds on and off its on her heel so its more if she jumps on it is when it starts. ive cleaned it and bandaged it up but im thinking should i take her to the er? and the vent comes off because we just got new carpet 2 days ago and i was looking for the drill to drill in the screws when this happened.

  • I would, just because the chances of infection seem like they could be high since there's no chance you can stop an 18 month old from jumping to reopen the cut

  • If you can take her to an urgent care clinic rather than the ER. Less expensive and short wait times. Also do you have an advice line you can call. They might be able to tell you is a ER/Urgent care visit is necessary based on the length and depth of the cut. GL.

  • yeah, you want to take her. you never know if there was rust down there or what. usually when people get cut on metal they usually give them a tectnus shot just in case of rust poisining.

  • If you have an inkling of going to the doctor for stitches or glue, then go. Better to be safe then sorry, I had the same thing when my son was two... (the story has change several times, so we don't know exactly what happened) He was playing in his room and he jumped off his bed and hit his lip on a toy, or he was pushed by his big brother, who knows anyway he cut his bottom lip, wasn't THAT bad and it stopped bleeding within minutes but they wanted to see him anyway, and sure enough he had THREE stitches...Good Luck mama!
