My mom thinks I'm weird...

because when I cook with ground beef after I drain it I rince it. I try to rince as much grease (fat) off as possible, before putting it back in the pan to continue cooking.
(yes I know I can't spell)

Does anyone else do this?

  • I do not do that, my sil does though and her food is always very bland. Not sure if that is the reason or what.

  • are you doing that for diet reasons? because if so i can understand that. but if not, the grease makes it taste better! especially if your throwing it in speggati sauce. the grease has all the flavor.

  • I drain it, but I don't rinse it.

  • Yes..I thought everyone did, I don't eat ground beef though, just ground turkey.

  • why not just soak up the excess with putting it on paper towels for a minute?

  • I have a friend that does that.

  • I drain it then use a paper towel to absorb the extra grease still on the beef. I don't rinse it.

  • I buy ground beef in bulk, and when I cook it all up at once, I add water to the pan and drain it off. It seems to get a whole lot of the excess grease out of the meat.

  • yeah diet reasons - and once I started doing it and seeing how much extra grease came off it kinda grossed me out
