  • Any kind of lunchmeat.
Actually my kids favorite was turkey, ham and cheese on dinner rolls...little mini sandwiches. My middle daughter had to take her lunch for 5 weeks in kindergarten and she would barely touch her sandwich if it wasn't PB&J (her favorite) so I made her the dinner roll sandwiches and she came home and said they were the best thing ever and had them every day until the rolls were gone.

  • I steered away from that celery snack idea, it always wilts. I am going to make some homemade egg rolls and keep them around for snacking. It's easy and portable, if they like cooked cabbage, celery, carrots, and pork or chicken. Dried or crunchy snacks are my favorite for lunches. I'll always go the route of chex-mix, and dried fruit, or granola. Chopping up fruit is so weird when i know it's going to turn that rusty color. Just recently we bought into a sale of variety bagged chips, nachos, popcorn, and doodles. Easy way to pack a good tasty lunch side. If kids are home later on they will never not ask for cooked rice with something over it.

  • As an alternative to sandwiches you can do wraps or pita bread. Crackers and cheese. Get a good thermos and send hot foods - leftovers, soups, etc. Frozen yogurt tubes. Mix up a fruit salad. A tossed salad (dressing on the side). Tuna salad, chicken salad.
