If you eat a candy bar and you are diabetic, how would that effect your body?

if yours is just a diet controlled diabetes and you ate a candy bar, would you start to feel dizzy, jiddery and would that make your blood glucose sky rocket?

  • Yes it can. Its not good to do that. That can cause it to make it so it is not just controlled my your diet. Get the sugar free candy

  • Actually, the sugar free carbs in some cases does nothing to limit the carbs. Diabetics count carbs, so you really have to read the label. just sugar free isn't good enough.

    Yes, if you are diabetic a candy bar will make your blood sugar skyrocket if it is not convered by insulin which is the case in diet controlled diabetes. Those symptoms mentioned are of high blood sugar but low blood sugar as well. However, if you are not taking any meds or insulin you shouldn't get low blood sugar. This will not occur immediately. It takes time for a candy bar to get into your system because of the fat it contains which slows down absorption.

  • Starches like pasta, bread, & potatos will turn into sugar in your body and raise your blood sugar level too.
