how would you pronounce this word?

i've been reading my son a lot of dr. suess books and he really likes The Lorax story and in the story it talks about making "thneeds" how would you pronounce it? I have been saying "needs." How would you say it? Some of these words in these books are just a little far out

  • The whole point of Dr. Seuss' books are to make words rhyme. He made up words in order to make them rhyme. It makes the books more enjoyable for the kids. The word is pronounced exactly how it looks. thn would be pronounced with a "thna" sound...then add the "eeds" sound...thneeds. I hope this helps. Use this theory for all of Dr. Seuss' strange words.
