Do you know of a good portable heater for a basement?

My DD lost her Job. Where she was a Art manager, teacher, potter, Artist Etc.. She'd like to set up a studio at her house. Its okay with her landlord. Does anyone know of a good portable heater? One that can heat a unheated cold basement? Any ideas? Of course it being good, functional and energy efficient would be helpful too! Know of any good heaters? Does any one have their own Art Studio at home? Any tips would greatly be appreciated! Thank you for reading! Thank you as well for replies.

  • We used the infrared ones when we dind't have a heater at all, they were wonderful. Both kid and animal friendly.

  • Edenpure saves on the electric bill and ionizes the air, uses infrared heat.. whatever that means...lol.. the x bought me one and I noticed the air had a much lighter quality to it, just felt cleaner somehow. Here's the link if you're interested:

  • Depends on how big the area is. We used SunHeat infrared heaters and they do an excellent job. We have tested others such as EdenPure, I-Heater, etc.; none heated as well. These heaters are not cheap, now around $399 (with insdtant $50- rebate) but are an excellent value compared to any of the others. This heater will totally heat at least 500 sq ft, supplement up to 1,000 sq feet.

  • I noticed another answer to this post about the eddnpure heater but I actually purchased an iheater at http://www.iheaterdirect.com
that sells for much less and is comparable. They even have iheaters that cover more area. I bought the black heater that covers 1500 square feet and has adjustable wattage in case I am in a smaller room. They offered free same day shipping and were very friendly in handling my order over the phone.
    hope this helps :)
