being a foster parent???

im trying to find something i like to do to help someone had mentioned she was trying to become a foster i kind of want to know what are your duties and is it a lot of money?

  • Your duties are doing everything a parent does. I was a foster parent for 3 years. Depending on the level of child you foster will depend on doctor/therapist visits, etc.. In Texas it was $700 a child per month, the each received WIC, Medicaid, and if you work outside your home the state pays for the childs daycare! They each receive about $200 for shopping during winter and $200 to shop for summer clothes.

    We stopped fostering because we adopted a sibling group. Danielle came into our home at 6 weeks old straight from the hospital and then when she was 18 months we received a call that she had a baby brother just born. So we went to meet him and started bonding w/him at 1 week old in the hospital. He was released to us at 3 months old from the hospital. The both were finally legally ours when she was 2 and he was 1. They truly completed our family!
