Leaving 8 & 5 yr old's asleep alone for 5 minutes?

Gotta run my oldest to school. It's 1 mile. Takes 5 minutes in the car. It's raining. Hubby is away for the weekend. Little ones are sleeping. We live in a house on cul-de-sac. Ok to leave them asleep or no?

  • Tempting I know, but I am a worse case scenario type of person. As much as I hate to wake sleeping children- I would wake them and take them.

  • I don't think I would. If they wake up, they could panic, or go outside to look for you, wander away. I wouldn't chance it myself.

  • Against the law.

  • Is this a serious question? What do you think? Wake up the kids, put them in the car. If they are tired, they can nap. If something happens while you are gone, how are you going to feel?

  • You can not leave children home alone till they are 10 yrs old. (By law)

  • uh HECK NO. are you crazy?

  • 5 minutes = someone can break in and kill them
5 minutes = a bare wire can start a fire
5 minutes = a car can crash into the house
5 minutes = they can wake up and wander off
5 minutes = lots can happen and I wouldn't chance it besides it being against the law.
