Sarah Palin's a tax cheat too? and she is attending the Tea Patries?

Alaska – Records show that Sarah Palin hasn't paid any property taxes on cabins that have been built on two backcountry plots partially owned by the former Alaska governor.

There are no tax assessments for the two-story, house-sized cabins, a workshop and a sauna spotted Thursday in an aerial survey. Property taxes totaling $156.13 were paid on the land in 2009 — but that bill did not include anything for the structures because the local assessor didn't know about the new construction nearly 100 miles north of Anchorage.

"Typically, if there are errors, we hear from owners," he said. "If there are omissions, we don't. Every once in a while we do have someone call us about omissions, but not often."

  • Alaska News last night (ABC News 10) says she Partially owned these properties. So, it sounds like there are other people involved. Looks like Yahoo left that tidbit out.

  • No anon :30, you were just to lazy to read the whole story.

FROM the link: The properties are located along Safari Lake — an undeveloped area located near Denali State Park — and owned by Palin, her husband Todd and a family friend, Scott Richter. According to borough records, the tax assessments are sent to Richter's post office box in Big Lake.

Anyway, OP it looks like the family friend is mostly to blame for the screw up, but the article does say the property owners need to report structures built on their land, so that would include Sarah. Dont these politicians have "people" that handle their financial filings for them? If not they should think of hiring a CPA or tax attorney.

  • So what it is saying is that there is more to the story? But I wonder if Huff Po and the liberals are rushing to judge her? Typical media hype without all the facts.... Happens on both sides. If she is found to be guilty, then she should be held accountable and imo should lose credibility with Tea Party goers. But, in reality, she isn't an elected official. Nor has she officially said she wants to be.  Charlie Rengal an ACTUAL elected official has been cheating the tax codes he is suppose to OVERSEE and there is little to no outrage from Liberal Media/Politicians. Where is the Liberal Media Article to hold Charlie Rangel Accoutable?

  • I am not surprised. Sorry, but just not.

Even as partial owner, one is responsible for knowing what is going on with one's properties. By the notice going to Scott's mail - does that mean Palin and DH are not responsible?

    Not to me.
