Is there a web site out there that I can use to help my 4 year old prepare for 4K.

I want to help her with her numbers and letters and anything else that she needs to know. Not sure what that all is. She is in pre K right now through daycare and she said they aren't working on their letters. I am just looking for some fun activities that we can do at home. I read 2-3 books every night and we like to sign in the car, but I want to get her writing and things like that. Thanks

  • Sesame street parents website has a ton of good info. My daughter really enjoyed those educational workbooks. Most of the pre-k and k start with letters. Also PBS has a ton of great age appropriate cartoons that talk all about letters and other pre-reading skills. As far as writing mazes are a good way to help teach her control and coordination that is fun. Once she gets kind of good you could start to write out her name and have her trace it. Just don't do what I did and teach your kid to make backwards Js. Oops. Enjoy and just make it fun.

  • my child is also in daycare pre k i swear they don't learn any letters numbers or anything but songs i print her worksheets out

She is very smart and learns good at home she knows how to write her whole name she knows her phone number and address (but she still is working on knowing how to write all her numbers)

  • I am unfamiliar with 4K... Phone the school and ask them what skills your child needs and what techniques they recommend to help her learn them.

You can also go to and type in Learning Sites for Pre-K and it will give you a bunch of sites to go through.
