Should I do a pee test or have a blood test?

I just had a baby boy July 2009. I am EBF him and have not had a period yet. I sometimes have these horrible cramps, kinda like if I were to start my period. Its not constant though. I had a teeny tiny bit of blood when I wiped like once, but then nothing since. That was about 3 months ago.
Anyways...I have my "annual" appt coming up next week and was wondering if I should just have them draw some blood to test for a pregnancy since I'm going in anyway?! Or should I just go get a pregnancy test OTC?! I guess I am just worried about a pee test not being accurate since I'm BF still and have not had a period yet.
