Why cant you lay on your back pregnant??

  • Every OB SHOULD tell you that you can't. It's because the baby puts too much pressure on your lungs, heart, arteries, and spine. It could lead to you not getting enough oxygen, your blood not flowing properly, etc. Laying on your left side is the best, because there is no pressure on major arteries, your breathing, etc.

  • once your belly gets big, like 6 mts or more laying on your belly can sometimes cut criculation to the baby,. i couldt lay on my back cuz i got dizzy.

  • circulation is best on your side, but you really can lay however you feel comfortable. if you are laying in a way that impedes circulation, you will grow uncomfortable and move. on your back, the weight of the uterus can put pressure on arteries.

  • i've heard that laying on your left side is the absolute best. i dont know for sure though!
