  • 99.2 isn't technically a fever. Call your pediatrician to make yourself feel better. He will probably tell you that though. Keep checking the temp in case it goes up.

  • When my dd was a newborn I was told 99 isn't considered a fever for a new baby...apparently they run a little warmer when they are that young. I would call to be sure - I'm not an expert - I just remember that from when mine was first born. Good luck! I'm sure he's fine :)

  • 99 degrees is not a fever for children, they run hotter than adults.

  • I agree with everyone else that 99 is not a fever. I was also told depending on how you took the temperature it will be higher/lower. Example: rectal will be slightly higher than oral. I believe they told me 100.5 degrees between birth and 3 months requires a doctors/hospital visit.

  • above poster is right, but to be clear, rectal temp is more accurate, so it may be higher but it's the more accurate temp also...I was told if you take it any way other than rectally to add a degree....

  • Our pediatrician told us that a fever in a newborn is 100.4 taken rectally.
