Can you buy seeds to plant a garden with your foodstamps?

    No you can't buy seeds!

    You also can't pay for rent, or shoes, or clothes! Just saying, in case your case worker did not explain this to yo!!!!!!. We do not pay taxes so YOU can plant an effen garden!

  • Uh, last poster, I'm pretty sure she means a food garden, not a flower garden.

    So, yes, she would be eating the healthy, homegrown vegetables that she grew.

    That would actually be A LOT CHEAPER for the taxpayer.

  • depending on the seed, some people do eat them actually. and vegetable gardens provide food.....at that cheaper than buying them fresh.

    anon. 12:42am -- relax a little. foodstamps will pay for pop and other unhealthy food. i would be happier that someone is spending my tax money on something a little healthier and that will go much farther.

  • Actually it would be wise to let them buy seeds with them. It would cost much less to have a garden then purchase food at the local supermarket.
