Where have you told your boys to pee? Where would you tolerate them peeing?

I'm sure at some time we've all had our sons pee outside or in an unusual place. The boys all seem to pick up on what their friends do and eventually I wonder when they're going to far. I knew as a kid where my brothers did it and mom often turned a blind eye to them, but not always.

Where have you allowed your boys to pee, where do you turn a blind eye to them and where do you draw the line?

OUTDOORS: camping, boating, hiking.
IN TOWN: parks, parking lots, alleys
HOME: back yard, the showers, basement sink, drain
POOLS: swimming pools, pool showers, locker rooms

Tell where you've encouraged them to go, where you've noticed them going and confidencially where you'd tolerate them going (if they ever got the idea themselves).

  • I have told my son to pee in a cup in the car. I have told him to pee behind a tree at the lake. I have told him to pee in the yard at times. I would tolerate him peeing in the drain in the garage and in the locker room if other boys were also peeing there.

  • in the toilet. we do go camping and there are not always toilets so they use bushes and we do live in a rural area so if we are driving and too far from a rest stop we will pull over.

Back yards, parks, alleys etc all big time no no's in my book. I dont even think my boys would honestly they hate having to use the side of the road when it is dire and they have to.

  • we live in the country....so my SS knows he can go outside as long as he isn't near a road and is away from people. lol. his dad and all family friends do it. they have always done that since i have been around and it actually helped SS potty train faster as wierd as that sounds.

we were at a car wash once though when he was maybe 4....and we turn around and he is peeing. the car wash was in the middle of town right by walmart. it was hilarious! obviously we explained that he couldn't pee in public...that at home/his uncle mike's in the country was okay because no one could see him. lol. it was one of those moments you just never forget.

  • Odd, about 75% of us moms confess we pee in the shower and almost half of us pee in pools, yet no one is revealing whether they've told their kids it's ok to do so. And are we closing our eyes to the boys in locker rooms?

  • At home they pee in the shower or the toilet, no peeing in sinks here. They can pee in the yard - the dog does why not the kids? While camping, they can pee in the bushes, but not close to the tents, in the lake but only if they wade in at least hip deep. I have told them not to pee in the pool, but I'm sure they do. In the locker room there are toilets, so I hope they use them. They'll use the side of the road if need be. If we're at the park I prefer them to use the bathrooms, but in the bushes is ok if necessary. Really to me it's not as much about setting specific spots other than the toilet as it is about it being appropriate to the circumstances and location.
