Republicans had blocked the bill last week, saying it was a bad use of money for a government bleeding cash, but Democrats pushed it through this week, saying they didn't want to lose the chance to acquire the land.

From the article:

"Democrats last week voted down a bill with the exact same language that was sponsored by a Republican"

Sounds like they are all playing politics, voting according to what party sponsored the bill. Republicans still authorized the same spending, just voted it down in a dem bill, when the republican bill didnt pass.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Last I checked, the members of congress were grown adults, most of them with degrees. They shouldn't need to be told to show restraint, it should be basic common sense.
