how much money does it cost to add a room on to a house??

about how much money would it cost to add a room on? we are thinking of trying to buy a new home either a 4 bedroom trailer for 50,000 or a 3 bedroom house for 27,000 (they are homes the bank ownes that are repos) I was wondering about how much would it be to add a room to the house we have some builders in the family so we wouldn't really have to pay for labor

  • it would depend on what your city says you can do. you have to submit plans and get a permit and inspection first.

    then the costs of expanding can cost anywhere from 20-30,000.

  • Don't assume you'd get free labor til you ask them and they agree to it. The cost can vary quite a bit, depending on the quality of your supplies, where you're located, etc. Not to mention the city building ordinances, local law concerning additions, building permits, etc etc etc.

  • Personally I would not buy the trailerbecause many of my friends have found that selling a trailer is hard and the resale value tanks. A house is a better investment. But do your homework and ask around about room additions first. Good luck!
