  • She wont eat it because it tastes nasty, taste it. I mixed in a spoonful of a fruit baby food into it and my DD ate it then.

  • Also my DD wouldn't eat it if it was too runny she liked it really thick.

  • 5 1/2 months or weeks?

  • use a spoon, you have to warm it up and mix with fruit and keep trying. she might not like it the first time but keep trying. and make plane & choo choo noises and be really happy about it. i started my son when he was 4 months old.

  • It's a myth that it makes them sleep through the night. 5 1/2 months is young for sleeping through the night anyway... Cereal in a bottle is unsafe. You can feed your baby cereal at that age if you really feel the need (mixed with a bit of breastmilk or formula, fed with a SPOON), but it has little nutritional value and doesn't have anything at all to do with a good night's sleep.

  • they dont take to the spoon right away, you have to keep trying
plus add something else to it so it has some flavor
(don't put it in the bottle, its a choking hazard)

    good luck!!!

  • Don't. Many babies wake up at night. It's normal. Your baby probably is not ready for solids yet which is why she's refusing them.

  • 5.5 weeks or 5.5 months? The earliest any baby is supposed to have any solids, including cereal, is 4 months. Studies have proven that cereal does not help babies sleep. Babies sleep when they are developmentally ready to or when they are made to.

When babies start solids at 4 - 6 months they don't need the nasty cereal. They don't need any jar food or other baby foods. They can have fork mashed banana, sweet potato, or avocado.

It's normal for babies to wake at night. Throughout time babies have breastfed and slept with their mothers at night. They wake to feed and to make sure they are still next to their mothers. In most places babies still breastfeed and sleep with their mothers. That's how babies brains are hard wired.

What you are doing by formula feeding & crib sleeping alone is a big human experiment that is abnormal for human babies. It's normal for babies to wake until they are 3 years.

  • I used those baby infant feeders. They have a nipple like a bottle but with a big hole. I also used jar baby cereal so it flowed easily. Whoever invented those things was a genius imo.

  • All of the research studies done on it have shown that giving baby cereal at night DOES NOT make them sleep longer/sleep through the night! Don't force solids on a baby who is not yet ready, as it will not even work.
