breastfeeding/sippy cups

so my son is 9 months old and always reaches for my cup when im taking a drink. my mom says to try sippy cups, i breastfeed is that gonna confuse him with sucking?

  • No it wont confuse him he is old enough that he can distinguish the difference.

  • Not at all. Sippy cups are recommended over bottles for breastfed babies. Go right ahead.

  • He should be offered water from a cup with his food. Breastfed babies can usually do well with cups with straws by this age. Cups with straws are better for avoiding speech problems. You might want to do some research on what the best sippy cups are.
