So, about those green jobs...want to know who is benefitting from them? Hint: It's NOT Americans!

So do you still have "hope" that the Obama Administration actually wants to lower the unemployment rate and put Americans back to work by bringing manufacturing companies back to the United States?! Think again!

"Nearly $2 billion in money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been spent on wind power, funding the creation of enough new wind farms to power 2.4 million homes over the past year. But the study found that nearly 80 percent of that money has gone to foreign manufacturers of wind turbines."

"According to our estimates, about 6,000 jobs have been created overseas, and maybe a couple hundred have been created in the U.S."

  • It doesnt' do any good to do things like that unless you can do practically everything in the US.. we aren't trying to stimulate other countries' economies, we are trying to stimulate our own. And contrary to what some people thing, WE ARE NOT ONE BIG ECONOMY. If we were, we might as well annex ourselves with Mexico and all live in huts.
He needs to come up with other things if he wants to stimulate the economy. I say STOP STEPPING IN... LESS GOV'T INVOLVEMENT. THat's the problem. Let the economy regulate itself. And use our tax dollars to HELP, not force us into things we don't need or that are immoral, etc.
Seriously, I hope 2012 (or dare I say sooner somehow) is the end of BO.

  • I'm lovin that whole hopey changey thing...

BO is not about what is good for this country. He is about what is good for him and his "circle".

  • This happens all the time. Due to the free trade and global trade agreements, companies are free to send work whereever they want and of course they make those determinations based on how much money it's going to put in the CEO's pocket. The CEO's don't care if people are out of work as long as they are still getting their millions. What this country needs to do is pass a law that says if a company accepts stimulus funds meant to help the economy and supply jobs, they HAVE to keep those jobs in this country.

  • It was on the news last night that the wind farm project in Texas supplied about 300 jobs in Texas and over 2000 in China. According to a news article they received stimulus funds for it and the rest came from commercial banks in China. There is definitly something wrong with this picture. Companies are sending work overseas right and left because they can. The result is that the rich get a whole lot richer and the average american gets a whole lot poorer because of lack of work. Free trade and global trade may be good for other countries but I don't see where it's done much for our people.

  • I have never had that hope. Obama wants to collapse the economy and increase dependency on the gov to rebuild our country into his progressive (marxist) ideology.

  • I'm in no way an Obama supporter, but only about 10% of the truth is being told here and not all the information regarding this is available. Americans are responsible for this conundrum, each and every one of us. Americans don't want wind farms near their pretty houses. Or nuclear plants or coal plants. Gotta keep the real estate values high, remember? If nobody wants these in America they will be manufactured in and sold to other countries. It wasn't until Obama and his greenies came along toting green energy that wind farms and wind generation became "cool". There were NO manufacturers in the U.S. to keep up with the demand that Americans had for them. Keep turning your computers on in the morning to keep up the demand and things like this will happen. It's not like a wind turbine can be bought on Ebay.

  • Mitsubishi, Siemens and GE were making wind turbines years and years ago to sell to the French, Swedes and Germans because their citizens WANTED wind farms. Americans woke up one morning and decided they wanted some too, but those turbines are contracted out early and sold mostly before manufacturing, and waiting lists are normal. You can't complain the U.S. Government bought wind turbines to satisfy American tastes when that was the only source available. Previously the Americans had talked down the turbine farms saying they were unsightly and Indepent Producers with smaller turbines were voted out of town councils because of constant noise. Even a person like T.B. Pickens and his Billions had to buy from overseas, because that's where they were available. And he didn't do anything to help the situation, he caused the demand to go up and the supply to go down. Resulting in higher price quotes.

That's ok when their product is sold to the people in the country it's manufactured in. This is how business is supposed to work. There's nothing wrong with making money.

If this is the Cielo, USREG facility you are talking about, those two divisions are U.S. based. American Jobs. Once the facility is constructed and running, you only need about 40 employees to commission and operate the facility. Once again, the turbines were only available from an overseas manufacturer and it was liberals and Envrionmentalists that propelled this contract in the way it was written.
