homemade dishwasher powder?

ive had it w/ store bought dishwasher soap!! i use to use the tabs (1/2 powder, 1/2 liquid), but they are too expensive. so i bought cheap powder and not only does it leave residue but it has this horrible chemical smell.

ive heard some ladies talking about making their own soap, but i cant find anything online. what are the ingredients & measurements for homemade dishwasher soap?

  • I would never try to do that because I would be afraid to ruin the machine.

  • i used a home made dishwasher detergent, but it didn't work well at all, i think i used washing soda, but i don't really remember. i use 7th generation. it lasts us about 2 months. we rinse our dishes first, so we use just a little soap.

  • Yes. Google Homemade laundry soap. It is the same recipe. I used it and loved it! It is just like the gel soap. :)
