  • no cereal yet. it's probably a growth spurt, just feed him what he wants, it should pass in a few days :)

  • No cereal. You can't feed cereal to a baby under 4 months.

Babies go through a growth spurt at 6 weeks. You can give him more formula but be careful not to give him so much that he throws it all back up.

  • growth spurt. google growth spurts and it should come up with a list somewhere of aprox times when babies and children go through them. 6 wks 9 wks 3 months and so on.

  • Growth spurt. Just keep feeding him. It will pass.

  • Yeah, I'd say offer 4 oz then. No cereal. If he's hungry, he NEEDS the calories in formula (or breast milk). Cereal will just fill him up, and he won't consume as many calories as he needs.

  • Consult with your pedatrician! Yes its probably a growth spurt and feed him as much as he wants. On another note I had to give my son cereal with his bottle. His ped advised me too. Good luck!

  • No cereal. Just up the amount you give with each bottle. Once you do that, he may even still want very frequent meals but at about 6 weeks I think they've got a huge growth spurt. We upped my son's bottle to 6oz at six weeks. And congrats on the baby. :)

  • Absolutely no cereal for several months yet. He's normal. Keep feeding him.

  • NO cereal. Give him more in his bottle, but if he spits it back up, try a pacifier. Some babies just want to suck.

  • Cereal in the bottle is a choking hazard!!!

Solids fed to babies before they turn 1 are for the experience of eating them, not for nutrition (a subject most doctors know little about).Nutritionists recommend starting solids at 6 months; many now recommend skipping cereal and starting with a bit of avocado mashed with breastmilk (or formula). Then baked sweet potato, oatmeal, pumpkin, pureed peas, etc. Jarred baby food tastes awful, is expensive, and you never really know what is in it. Be sure to avoid the allergy trigger foods. This is not a complete list: before age 1, no soy, dairy, wheat, citrus, egg white, strawberries; before age 2 no honey, chocolate, nuts.
Two great books /websites on feeding babies, with differing philosophies, Baby Led Weaning and Super Baby Food You should be able to find them at your local library
