Breast suddenly becoming sore 7 months into breastfeeding?

My son has always had a great latch and nothing has changed but the last couple of days my nipples have been a little sore. It's not like over poweringly sore or anything but definately sore. HE doesn't have any teeth and like I said nothing has changed. He isn't going through a growth spurt or anything so it's not like he's nursing more than usual. They're just sore.

What could be causing this?

  • Hmmm...I certainly hope not...LOL.

I might pass out if I found out I was pregnant again. Of course DH and I have been having intercourse regularly but we are always very careful. I supposed nothing is fool proof but wow...pregnant again...hmmm...I don't even know if I can't think about that.

    Thanks girls!

  • Pregnancy or period are the usual suspects. Also, teething saliva can be irritating.

  • Could it have to do with him growing and getting astronger suck? Or even a growth spurt so it's stronger suddenly? I don't know, just guessing....

  • my son is 7 months.. and my nipples arent exactly sore, just more sensitive i would say.
but i wouldnt exactly say your pregnant, but its an option if you have been having sex.
    take a PT to know.
    good luck mommi!

  • That happend To me & it was because i was Pregnant. I didnt know i was pregnant & that, that was the reason why my nipples would hurt when my DD"15 months old" would try to nurse untill i took a pregnancy test.
