It hurts to breastfeed. Is this normal?

  • It can hurt up to two to six weeks. Just keep going before you know it will not hurt anymore.

  • What part of it hurts? My nips became chapped and part of it fell off and bled. If it's your nipples, then he/she isn't latching right, if it's your breast, it'll feel like a pinching feeling, taking hot showers helps with the pain and getting your nipple wet with a warm washcloth before feeding your baby might help with the pinching feeling, but it'll go away

  • I have been BFing for 13 months and it still hurts. Not bad just a constant pain. I HATE BREASTFEEDING

  • It might sting a bit at first, but if the pain is lasting longer than that, or is more intense, you could have a latching on problem. It general, it shouldn't hurt.
