How frequently should my 10 month old be nursing?

  • As often as he wants! Make sure you nurse BEFORE solids. Look for 4-5 dipes a day; that means you're doing fine.

At this age, it's not unusual for them to eat less as they work on a milestone like walking. It's also not unusual for them to increase frequency if they're just passed a milestone.

  • Huge range at this age! Some babies at this age have really taken off on solids and are starting to nurse less, while others are still getting mostly breastmilk and still nurse 8-12 times a day. Just continue to breastfeed before solids until at least 12 months old. Other than that just follow his/her lead!
