Promoting violence at birthday parties

Do you think that having pinatas and beating them with sticks, bats, etc, promotes violence?

  • Nope, never looked at it that way. I played it as a kid and that does not mean I went around thinking it was ok to hit people with sticks. My son has played it too, he doesn't go around being violent because of it. It's just fun.

  • I think the idea makes me uncomfortable IF the pinata is shaped in the shape of a person/character or animal. If you have like a star or a shape or something it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

  • Well, if that is really something that bothers you, they make piñatas now that have several strings. All the children pull the strings at the same time and all the candy comes out. The fun of the piñata without beating the living crap out of it.
