  • I've heard yes, cause it's like chemicals on your head

  • Foil highlights are acceptable once you are in your 2nd trimester. The dye doesn't get on your scalp and can't absorb into your skin.

An ammonia free dye is best bc you don't want to breathe in fumes. Let your stylist know you are pregnant and she will chose the best products for you.

Be warned-- pregnancy hormones may change your hair and it may not dye right. You could end up with wild colors!

  • I'm a liscenced cosmetologist. Hair color is SAFE to do while you are pregnant. Box colors can sometimes contain ammonia, which is harmful to yourself as well as your baby. Make sure if you are getting a box color from the store, that it is ammonia free. Other than that the chemicals used are pigment (the actual color) and peroxide (the chemical that allows the color into your hairshaft) The molecules of both are too large to get into your bloodstream, therefore having no effect on the pregnancy. You may however, find that your color may not turn out how you were hoping it would because of the hormones in your body (yes hormones can affect color) You hair may turn out too light or dark, it may come out blotchy, or it could fade really fast. On the other hand, it may turn out fine. But YES haircolor is safe during pregnancy!

  • Scientists, Doctors etc have not found any harm that dye causes the baby. What I was told wasa to avoid it the first trimester and avoid ones with ammonia but is SAFE to dye it. It sits on your head and does not absorbed into your scalp or bloodstream so it can't do anything do the baby.
