What week do they start to check to see if your dilating yet?

I am in my 31st week and its been 4 yrs since I last gave birth. When is it they start to check for dilating and what not?

  • Some (most) attendants never check at all. But if your provider does them routinely, possibly around 36 weeks.
    You can certainly decline this optional intervention. Since it does not help anyone or give useful information, and adds risks, it is something to consider avoiding, even.

    I had no prenatal checks with my pregnancies, was never asked, even. ;-)

    i would just refuse to be checked because it does no good, and can do harm. :)

  • i have preterm contractions once i hit 26 weeks (pregnant with my third and im 19 weeks, so praying this one i wont)
    so my doctor checks after 26 weeks everytime.. just so we can catch it in time.
