Why cant you get direct Deposit for your taxes if youpaid over $10k?

We got our taxes done today and we couldnt get direct deposit because my husband paid over $10,000 in fedral taxes. They said we'd get a check in 21-28 days by mail.

WHY?

  • Yeah you can't get DD or a RAL if you RECEIVE a refund over 10,000 not the other way around. You have to wait it out sorry : )

  • You're receiving 10,000? Maybe it's a new policy, I don't know, we've never received over a 600.00 refund.

  • Are you saying overpaid by 10K or paid 10K and you are getting less than that back? We paid 30K in taxes and got 4K back and it was direct deposited, no problem. If your refund is 10K than its possible that its a new regulation to prevent fraud (as in someone hacking in and taking your $, not you committing fraud) I would go to IRS.gov and go under the FAQ's to see if its covered there. If not, I think you can send an email and they will get back to you with an answer.
