Moms who have kids with sleep disorders?

We think my 11 year old daughter has some type anxiety. Most nights she cannot fall asleep because she is up worrying or scared of things that happen in movies or books she has read or seen. She'll come in our room when she can't sleep all sweaty and crying because she is so scared. Some nights when she does fall asleep she wakes up not being able to go back. She has a doctors appointment soon, but until then does anyone know how to calm this?

  • oh how scary! I'm sure you're limiting tv shows and reading -be sure to keep that up. Could something be wrong at school or on a bus that's making her anxious for the next day? Maybe limit conversation of the life's bad things strictly to when she's not home.

    Hope she's ok!!

  • Sounds like she may have trouble understanding that fantasy in books and on TV is just that - fantasy. If that's true it isn't something therapy can't fix. GL.

  • Try some soothing music & give her melatonin.
