Our infant failed her newborn hearing tests AND failed her inner ear hearing tests with the specialist...I need more information from someone knowledgable on hearing loss only please :) more info to follow....

We were told by the specialist she has hearing loss but aren't sure to what degree. We have been referred to Seattle Childrens Hospital (one of the best in the country) for further testing. Her next test will be a baer. It tests how her brain reacts to sound. We fear she may be almost completely deaf but aren't sure. She doesn't turn towards your voice or flinch when you clap or shout. Her eyes open WIDE when high tones from loud whistles. Does you know anyone who has ever recieved a cochlear implant? Should we still have hope that her hearing loss could be fixed somehow?

  • KEEP HOPE! of course, medicine improves everyday! start reading signing books so you can learn with your child, it's never too early to start signing to her and keep talking to her. i taught my son sign lang before he could ever talk, it's very good for their developement. good luck! i hope everything works out, but don't let this hold you back.
