  • Yes. Water poisoning IS possible! If you think you could be drinking too much water, talk to your doctor. Constant thirst is usually an indication of a very serious underlying condition.
Look up water poisoning in a search and see what you come up with. The answers may shock you.

  • i heard of one woman who was in a water drinking contest and ended up dyeing... i think it was in cali or something. i guess you can literally drown yourself.. but if you drink water based on wanting it i dont think it could happen like that. more so if it is forced.

  • Yes, your cells can't handle an unlimited amount of water.

  • I think that lady died because the contest was how much water can you drink before having to go to the restroom... but water poisoning does happen.

If your used to drinking this much water then no its not too much, if you are excessively thirsty or wake up in the night for more water then you need to talk to a doctor.

  • It's called hyponatremia, and it's actually an electrolyte imbalance. It's really hard to drink enough water to cause it unless you're an athlete - they sweat out all their electrolytes, and just replacing the water causes the imbalance.

  • Too much of anything can be dangerous - even oxygen.

  • You're not drinking too much. Most docs will tell you that it's good to drink about half your body's weight in oz of water per day, especially if you're trying to lose weight. Now, if you were drinking five or six GALLONS of water, then I'd say you definitely have a problem.
