  • Be angry, but sin not. It means what it says. Be angry but don't react to that anger in a way that hurts others or yourself.
    "Neither give place to the devil", simply means to avoid sin and sinful thoughts (which are often driven by anger). ( Compare 1 Corinthians 10:3-6; James 1:19-20, 4:7; Philippians 4:8; Proverbs 14:29; )

  • Think of all the things anger can lead to. This verse warns against the damage anger can do in ones life and how it can be the stepping stone for much bigger troubles......

  • Anger is part of our animal brain. It's a protection and we can't stop being angry thru sheer force of will. I think the verse is saying that anger is of the devil in that it often leads someone to do terrible things. Being angry with someone is normal. Going too far and harming that someone because of that anger is not. It's saying that one should not lose control and do something stupid.
