Food ideas?

Anyone have any ideas for a baby starting to eat? He wont eat his baby food very well now. Refuses to take a bottle during the day. He can eat some chunks now. He has to have small pieces or very soft foods. He likes soup but it has alot of salt to it. He likes pears they are a soft fruit. I need some more ideas of food that a starter can eat. He likes the gerber snacks but thats not a good meal. Any ideas? He is 10 months old but he is a late starter on eating table foods.

  • my daughter hated baby food and started on mashed up table foods pretty early.

any cooked vegetable will work well! green beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, corn
mashed potatoes or even boiled potatoes.
    vienna sausages
I would pinch chicken nuggets into bite size pieces for her
    hamburger
    cheese
any canned fruit will work well since they are all pretty soft.
    apple sauce
    yogurt
    crackers
    graham crackers
    biscuits
    toast
    waffles
    pancakes
    eggs
    pasta

basically if I ate it, I would just make her much smaller bites

  • ^^ Those are good ideas except try to focus on fresh fruits and veggies because they have so much more vitamins and minerals for your baby. And consider doing whole wheat everything!...pasta, waffles, toast, even graham crackers.

This site has great ideas from basics to recipes for your little one. There are also food charts you can print out for the different ages and food stages. Using it kept me from giving my baby boxed and prepackaged foods. http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/

  • Just mash a banana or some cooked veggie. Or make some soup on your own, so the sodium will be a lot less. You can shred chicken into small bits. Cheerios. Kix. Scrambled eggs w/ or w/out cottage cheese. Pretty much anything that you can mash into smaller bits. My kids loved it when I would open a can of vegetarian refried beans - I could just spoon it can to mouth, mild jalapenos and all.

  • Pretty much anything you eat with focus on vegetables and fruit (of course avoid allergy trigger foods like peanut butter). If he won't take a bottle, that's fine, just go to a cup or sippy cup.

You honestly could have skipped the baby food altogether. Its just a marketing ploy and overpriced.
