  • I was born and raised in southern calif about an hour from the boarder there, and definately think it needs to continue. Looking at it from a terrorist angle if we leave the boarders unpatrolled they wont need to get on a plane, they can just walk across and do whatever they need to do here. Have we already forgotten the mumbai attack? It was said then they were planning similiar attacks in the US. They dont need a plane to carry this out.

  • Our physical boarders (not migration stations at major ports) are barely "patrolled" as it is. We've got miles and miles of Canadian and Mexican boarders that are unchecked and deserted.

A lot of people have this idea that illegals are physically sneaking over in the night by the 100,000s. Well, some people do run through the woods in the dark to come here, but more people come here legally and over stay their visas. Or they have tourist visas and start working illegally.

The way our current system is run is worthless. Moving the funding from boarder patrol to airports isn't going to make any difference.

  • i think we need to increase border patrols. until our mexican neighbors decide it is worth coming to the states legally instead of sneaking across.

  • I wish our borders all around were better patrolled. But in reality the borders are so so long HOW can it be done? I think it's pretty much agreed in government it needs to be done but the logistics makes it impossible without building all around the U S The Great Wall of China or The Berlin Wall.

I've heard of an internet site that U S Citizen can log in to and either participate in or observe the borders and what happens if someone is seen crossing over from Mexico -not a tv show but a web site. Don't know anything more about it than that.

HOW can x miles of desert be patrolled? And incoming U S Flights too have better control of who comes into this country than what it's doing now? I think airline passengers incoming and departing flights both are extremely proactive safety themselves.

  • I think we need to subcontract border security. JMO.

  • Yes boarder security should be kept - and should be amped up! I agree with QuinnMae - it should be subcontracted... here's an idea - perhaps mr O can make THAT part of his 'job stimulus' and create a few thousand jobs for boarder patrol!

1-why was the Mexico border always under higher security compared to Canada??? Hmmmm...
2-why, if "drugs" was always the reason for the higher security, now it's shifted to "terrorist threats?" Hmmmmm....
3-what is neo-colonization and what is the US' role? Hmmmmm...
4-Could terrorist attcks been avoided with higher border security? Hmmmmm...

I could go on and on!
