University of Alabama neurobiology professor who went on an alleged killing spree?

Boston Herald:‘Oddball’ portrait of Amy Bishop emerges

A family source said Bishop, a mother of four children - the youngest a third-grade boy - was a far-left political extremist who was “obsessed” with President Obama to the point of being off-putting.

Can you believe a mother could do this? I thought left wing political activists weren't the violent ones?

  • There is a fine line between being brillant and insanity. She is the perfect example. I heard she did not get tenure and she went to a meeting and killed her bosses and or collegues. That is so so tragic that someone could flip out like that being that she was not in the norm.

  • This morning on GMA, during a discussion of this woman's crimes, they said she has an IQ if over 160. That is in the Genius range. Many extremely intelligent people are also mentally ill....just wonder why? Its a shame.

  • She also killed her brother in the 80's. She is prone to violence, yet comes from academia. I wonder how they will spin her into a right wing extremist.

  • Thoughts and prayers to the friends and families of her victims.  What a horrible unnecessary thing she has done.

  • it is very sad and scary. I have family there in Huntsville, one who majored in that departments so she knew the victims. The shooter was also a suspect but never charged with a bomb threat at Harvard http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,585854,00.html

  • Why do you want to try to lable her and bring politics into this? How low can you go? This is a tragedy and I feel so sorry for her family. Show some compassion and stop with the political crap.

  • I agree, her political views are not what made her a psycho killer.

  • OH MY GAWD! Are you kidding me? If this had been a man that worked in a factory there would be all sorts of stories about how he has either extreme religious views or that he is a right wing extremist. Now you have someone that doesn't fit the mold that has committed this heinous crime and you refuse to put the same type of lables on her? Why? Hypocritical much? Or is it because she is a leftist? So she shot and killed people because she wasn't going to get tenure? Isn't that sort of like throwing the mother of all tantrums? After killing her brother with a shot gun she KNOWS the dangers of using a gun. Yet she brought one to her place of business (a COLLEGE) with intent to use it. She carried out three executions and attempted another 3 and you still refuse to call her what she is. No, let's just feel sorry for her.
