About how old are kids when they start losing their baby teeth?

My oldest son is 5 years old, he turns 6 in May. He's got his first loose tooth. My husband said it's too early for him to start losing teeth. I'm pretty sure it's not. So how old were your kiddo's when they lost their first teeth?

  • Around 5 No he is not too early at all. He is right at the age most kids do.

  • Somewhere between 5 and 7 is probably about average. My dd is 5.5 years and still has all her baby teeth, and my son didn't lose his first one until he was about 6.5, but there are plenty of 5 year olds in dd's class who have lost teeth. My kids just seem to be late in that regard!

  • When they are in kindergarten or first grade. Your son should be right on time.

  • That's normal. Just like getting your first tooth, some kids start a little younger and some kids a little later.

  • Well, a few months ago I would have said 5 or 6...because that is when my older kids (now teens) lost their first ones. But I have a 4 yr that just lost her first two teeth (bottoms) a couple weeks ago & she wont be 5 till July 20th.

  • 5 to 7. I'd say your son is right on schedule.
