talking help

My daughter just turned 1. She has been saying words since around 7 or 8 months. Is it normal for her to stop saying some of the words that had been saying. For example....she used to say "all done" when finished eating and now she just stands up in her chair or points to down. She also used to say our dog's name a lot and now she doesn't say her name hardly ever but if we say the dog's name or ask where she is our daughter will point to where she is!

  • When they start to do new things, like walking, standing, or learning new words or hand motions, they tend to do things they used to do a lot less. Dont worry, she didnt forget! She is just focusing on new things right now.

  • She's been walking now for about 3 months and she has really started exploring things!

  • Very common. It'll come back. She's just mastered those things and has moved on to new things...like standing up and pointing to down. Before long, you'll have to start deciding which behaviors you like better and avoid responding to the ones you don't like. =)
