How easy or hard would it be install a bath/jet tub, when you have a regular standard tub?

I would absolutely love to change out my regular tub for a jet/spa tub? Not only for health benefits but as a way to relax and unwind. my bathroom upstairs is somewhat small and out from the bathroom is the washer and dryer. Have always wanted to have this done. I figure it would be an expense also too have done.

  • We just bought a tub in the shape of a regular tub that had jets in it already. Much easier that way.

  • You'll need to find a new tub that fits in your old space. Since spa tubs are usually much larger, that's going to be the first challenge.

Once you have the tub you'll have to remove the old one. Then you'll have to hook up the plumbing. Depending on the current plumbing, this could be 30 minutes or 4 days. You'll need a lot of plumbing materials (glues, tapes, maybe even solder). You'll have to re-plumb the drain most likely at the correct slope. Drains for spa tubs don't often match up with traditional tubs.

Once you have it installed you need to test it for leaks. The tub should have been tested at the factory but shipping can loosen things. Once you're water tight, you'll need to seal the new tub into place.

Can you tell we've been remodeling our house? AH! Pay someone else!!!
